Actually this will be the last blog here because we will be switching to a new system of blogging and social media. This will ensure you get great news about our beautiful jewellery even more conveniently! Check out our facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Dublin-Ireland/Diamondie/110816242272799

So, here is the news: WE HAVE DECIDED TO MATCH ANY DIAMOND PRICE FOUND ONLINE. Additionally, we will undercut any Irish jewellers price significantly.

This year has been about looking after our customers. Every weekend of Diamond Consultations saw 4 or 5 existing customers coming back to select wedding rings. The first step is to look at the beautiful ring supplied in the first instance (we have supplied over 500 engagement rings to Irish clients!) and reminisce about the fun we had making the diamond and setting choices way back then. Then we look together at our range of wedding rings and whether a custom or classic design works best.

We stopped advertising this year and just worked with referrals and existing clients. It has been rewarding and fun. However, the constant flow of wedding ring business tells me that if, in two or three years time, I want to be meeting all my clients from 2010 then I have to cater to a more competitive market and clients who, more than ever, want their Euros to go farther.

So, I have decided to match any online price and beat any other jewellers price. This will allow you to deal with the most established non-retail jeweller in Ireland and to get a beautiful Diamond.ie engagement ring for a guaranteed unbeatable price. How do you avail of this offer? Well, book a Diamond Consultation appointment and lets talk soon.

I really look forward to meeting you and helping you find the most perfect and stunning diamond and engagement ring that you can imagine.

Thanks!

Fraser

New Shopping Cart Coming Soon

We have decided to put together a lovely shopping cart of items on hand for you to buy. December is a special time in New York as there are so many amazing things going on. Being a native New Yorker, here is my short list of some great things to do in New York while you are here with us.

#1 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, the tree is huge and it over looks the skating rink. On top of that the whole plaza is decorated and it is kind of like you are in a Christmas movie. It's really pretty at night.

#2 Horse and carriage ride in central park, as you can see on the website they do a lot of proposals, but it is a private affair. You get hot chocolate and get to be under a blanket while riding around Central Park. You can arrange with the driver to stop somewhere for a minute to get out of the carriage and propose. You don't have to make reservations, you can just walk up to one of them near the park. Try near 59th and 5th.

#3 Holiday lights boat tour, this is my FAVORITE thing to do in NYC during the holidays. You are on a boat, covered of course, and you take a tour all around NYC to see the lights from the water. All the bridges are lit up and you can see all the different buildings. It really is amazing.

#4 The Grand Central Station Holiday lights show, you feel like you are in a snowglobe and the lights are everywhere! As an added bonus? It's free!

#5 If you are feeling really crazy and want to do something really fun, try the indoor ferris wheel at Toys R Us in Times Square. It really is a full sized ferris wheel indoors, so you don't have to worry about cold and Times Square is right outside. Take her for a ride and then take her into Barbie's Dream House to propose, if she is that kind of girly-girl, like myself.

Best of luck in New York and if you need any more ideas feel free to email me, ryan@diamond.ie and I'd be happy to be of assistance.

-Ryan Elizabeth Graney
International Coordinator
Fraser Diamonds, Inc.

Times like these.

There are times when everything just lines up perfectly and you know everything that is supposed to happen will.

Take our recent customers. After a few back and forth emails they flew here to New York from Ireland on Tuesday morning and we met on Tuesday afternoon. She knew exactly what she wanted and we brought what we thought she would like and we succeeded. After 1 and half hours, 4 diamonds and 3 settings, we had her perfect ring. They left with smiles on their faces and she even gave me a hug! The first customer to hug me!

We rushed the ring and kept a phone vigil to ensure the ring was done by Thursday evening, a little more than 48 hours after the first meeting. Our friends at H.Levi did such an amazing job!

Here is where you know they were meant to be. Her sister lives here in New York and her brother just happens to be in town. Her soon to be husband called them and made plans for dinner on the idea that he is just in town for business. At dinner they will be surprised by their sister and she will have a gorgeous ring on her finger! Everything came together perfectly!

This is why I love my job.

-Ryan Elizabeth Graney

International Coordinator

Fraser Diamonds, Inc.

www.diamond.ie

Recessionary times

Hi Folks,

There is no point sticking our heads in sand on this one. F is colour and SI1 clarity. It is just a trade abbreviation for colour/clarity. I love F colour (or higher) because this is into the colourless range of diamonds - D, E and F are colourless and G, H and I are near clourless. SI1 with GIA's strict standard (not so for HRD) never has a visible inclusion in the diamond and therefore the question can be asked "why pay more".

Now I must balance the above with some caveats. I have sold several diamonds, for example, a 2 carat G colour Internally Flawless ($45,000 in NYC). This diamond was remarkable looking. Similarly I often sell H colour, VS1 diamonds and these are pretty darn special too.

So for a while I was on the fence between F/SI1 and H/VS1 but I think I will continue to be an F/SI1 guy especially because I hand pick the SI1 diamond such that its inclusions have zero effect on the diamonds appearance. Hope I did not baffle you with science too much as I vent my opinions here!

Call me ... buy a diamond!

Diamond Certification

Certification is my major bug bear of the month. I am doing a lot of appraisals and the results are surprising to say the least.

What about an HRD certified (from Antwerp) "SI1" clarity diamond with 3 large visible black marks in the diamond. You would never have even one visible mark in a GIA SI1 clarity diamond. On closer inspection, the diamond also had a large white feather inclusion which in itself would have made this diamond an I1 clarity grade by GIA's strict standards. Worse still this inclusion was not marked on the diamond plot which is a diagram of the diamond and it's inclusions actually drawn on the certificate by the gemologist.

As another example, what about a 1 carat, D colour, VS1 clarity diamond certified by IGI from Dubai. This diamond cost the customer about $5000 and I can tell you that it was nowhere close to a GIA D/VS1. In fact it was closer to a G colour, Si1 clarity diamond. You could never by a 1 carat D/VS1 for $5k. The old saying is true - if it is too good to be true in probably aint true.

You should insist on GIA wherever you buy. Accept no other certificate.
